What To Expect

What Does A Visit Look Like?

What To Expect At Breathe Chiropractic

Before you first begin chiropractic care, it is very normal for to feel concerned about what you will expect during your first few visits. By the time most patients arrive at their first chiropractor’s visit, they have already tried other types of pain relief or treatment for their injuries.

Chiropractic treatment is often described as a method of treatment that is builds one layer upon another. What does that mean? It means that certain layers must be established and then built upon in order to get the most effective treatment! These layers are put together at just the right times during treatment so that you can begin experiencing relief and your body can begin repair itself!

We offer three levels of care. To continually increase the level of healing and function of our patients’ spines and overall health.

Level 1 Initial Intensive Care is designed to help your spine and body unwind the surface layers of tension so you move better, stand taller and feel more ease inside.

Level 2 Corrective Care helps us get to the root of the problem. It builds on Level 1 and helps the nervous system to re-pattern and release the more chronic, underlying areas of tension and dis-ease to create a more long-lasting change.

Level 3 Wellness & Optimization Care progressively brings practice members to a greater and greater levels of alignment and connectedness, while optimizing overall body-mind function.

Initial Visit

Upon entering our office, we will welcome you as a member of our Breathe Chiropractic family. You will complete some of our basic patient forms located in the New Patient Center, undergo an opening consultation to address any concerns or address any questions and then Dr. Danielle Stetzel, DC will complete an examination. If x-rays are needed we will let you know and they can be completed in-office. After the full examination is complete Dr. Stetzel will give you a report of findings and suggest further care. For a more in-depth explanation please visit our Initial Visit page.

Phase 1: Relief Care

Frequently people are first brought to visit our chiropractor because they are in pain. Immediate relief or the painful condition is the goal of your initial treatment. In this first phase of care, the main goal is to reduce your symptoms.  If an underlying condition is causing your pain, our treatment will address this, but our initial treatments focus on getting you out of the acute debilitating pain you may be experiencing.

Depending on the severity of your pain this may require daily visits, or two to three visits per week for a certain about of time. After initial pain relief, Dr. Stetzel will develop an individualized plan aimed to correct what brought you to begin experiencing so much pain in the first place. The corrective care phase is imperative to help reduce the chances of experiencing a rapid recurrence of symptoms once your pain is alleviated.

Phase 2: Corrective Care

Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of health because pain frequently appears only after a disease or condition has progressed. For example, when you have a cavity in your tooth the pain begins only after it has become serious. Whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear.

With chiropractic care, pain is also often the first symptom to disappear, even though much of the underlying condition remains. Our corrective case phase of treatment is aimed at treating any underlying causes to create long-lasting pain relief and take you out of the pain cycle. Adjustments in this phase are not as frequent and, depending on your plan, you may begin exercises and stretches either at the center or at home to help accelerate your healing. This phase of your care may last anywhere from a few months to a couple of years.

Do not be discouraged if you have mild flare-ups in your symptoms on occasion! This is normal. Flare-ups occur during this phase because your body has not fully healed. They will subside!

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Wellness care is considered the third phase of the chiropractic care plan. Maintenance is key to healthy living! Once your body has fully healed, routine chiropractic care can help ensure that your physical problems do not return, and help keep your body in optimal condition. Just like continuing an exercise program and eating well to sustain the benefits of weight loss, it is important to continue chiropractic care to maintain the health of your musculoskeletal system.

When you make regular chiropractic care part of your healthcare routine, you avoid many of the aches and pains that so many people suffer through as life happens. Your joints will last longer and you will be able to engage in more of the activities you love as you age! The frequency of maintenance and wellness care varies and Dr. Danielle Stetzel, DC will suggest an individualized scheduled based on your condition and response to treatment.
